Assembly, IV A, July 6, 2017

The students of Class IV A presented the morning assembly on July 6, 2017 on the topic- ‘Ek or EkGyarah’. The assembly focused on the importance and necessity of ‘Unity’ in today’s life. It began with the Morning Prayer followed by the thought for the day. A short skit highlighting the theme left the audience spell bound and allowed them to ponder over the value learnt from the presentation. To tickle the brain cells, there was a G.K Quiz that kept the audience engrossed. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.

 

Assembly, Class V E, July 11, 2017

The assembly of class V E was held on July11, 2017, Tuesday, on the topic ‘Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet’. The assembly commenced with an enlightening quote followed by a thought provoking skit by the students. The assembly concluded with a quiz testing the audience’s general knowledge ahead of the National Anthem.

 

Assembly, Class III D, July 13, 2017

The students of class III D presented the morning assembly on July 13, 2017 on the theme ‘परिश्रमसफलताकीकुंजी' .The assembly commenced with the Morning Prayer ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’ followed by the soothing hindi prayer song  'Labhpeaatihaidua'. It was then followed by a poem recitation on ' मेहनतकाफल' and a short skit aptly conveying the assembly theme. The students left an indelible mark on everyone with their performance. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem in chorus.

 

English Declamation- Class III; July 14 and July 21, 2017

To kindle the perennial penchant for oratory in the young minds, English Declamation Event for two groups of Class III was held on July 14 and 21, 2017 in the school premises. Six to seven students each from all the sections of Class III participated in the event and articulated their views on thought provoking topics like ‘If I were a book’, ‘How to be a good listener?’, ‘The world has enough to satisfy everyone's need but not everyone's greed’, ‘Junk Food vs. Healthy Food’, ‘God helps those who help themselves’ and ‘My Favourite Personality’. The orators left an indelible mark on the hearts of the audience as they brought out some amazing and interesting details about their topics. The parents of the participants were also a part of the audience and thoroughly enjoyed the presentations.
After going through the rigorous training process of preparation, the students were able to give spell binding performances and succeeded in mesmerising the audience. The valuable feedback of the jury motivated them to perform better in all future events. The event not only gave a platform to the participants for displaying their skills before others, but also gave an insight to the parents to foster their wards’ holistic development of language skills.

 

Bastille Day Celebration; July 14, 2017

The French language students of class V –VII celebrated ‘Bastille Day’ i.e. French National day on July 14, 2017 with great zeal and enthusiasm.
To mark the day, the students prepared French dishes comprising of French breads such as ‘Baguette’ and ‘Croissant’. Each student brought one dish made from any French bread. The enthusiastic students also enjoyed watching a video on ‘15 things you don’t know about France’ in their respective French language period.
The students really enjoyed learning more about France and its cuisine.

 

Infinity Week-Class III –VII; July 17-21, 2017
“Mathematics is one of the essential emanations of the human spirit, a thing to be valued in and for itself.”
The school celebrated Infinity Week from July 17 to July 21, 2017 wherein the students from classes III to VII participated exuberantly in a mathematical game show ‘A minute to win it’. Preliminary and tie breaker rounds for the same had been conducted in the respective classrooms.
The game show that comprised of different rounds like ‘Spin the Spinner’, ‘Tessellation’, ‘Rescue the fish’ and ‘Mathematical Portico’ witnessed young maths wizards showcasing their exceptional mathematical skills by answering questions in a minute's time. 

The show was an amalgamation of luck, team work, aptitude and time management which students enjoyed to the fullest. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to enrich their domain of knowledge in a fun-filled way. It concluded with a special round for the parents wherein they joined their ward’s team and made a ‘Tangram pattern.’

Assembly, Class VII E, July 18, 2017

The students of Class VII E conducted the morning assembly on July 18, 2017 on the topic ‘Uttar Pradesh’.The assembly commenced with the Morning Prayer, ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’ followed by the thought for the day. A mesmerising musical and folk dance performance transported the audience to Uttar Pradesh, a rainbow land where the multi-hued Indian Culture has blossomed from times immemorial. The performance was highly applauded as the students got an opportunity to peep into the richness and greatness of their country. The assembly proceeded further with a current affairs quiz fielding questions from Uttar Pradesh state. The congregation concluded with the National Anthem inducing the spirit of national integrity.

 

Wonders with Glassware- Inter School Competition; July 19, 2017

A team of two students comprising of AparnaKanodia (VII B) and Shaila Kumar ( VII C) participated in the Inter- School Event  entitled,  ‘Wonders with Glassware’ organised by Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini on July 19, 2017. The competition included collection of laboratory glassware from chemistry laboratory of the host school and creation of a decorative masterpiece from the collected material. It was an enriching experience for the young Goenkans as it allowed them to think out of the box and turn their creative ideas into reality.


Service Before Self-Community Service Programme; July 19, 2017

To catch a glimpse into the lives of blind people and empathize with them, the students of class V C visited ‘National Blind School’ on July 19, 2017.  The Goenkans presented a short programme comprising prayers and songs for them and they reciprocated playing different musical instruments for their guests. During interaction, they apprised the Goenkans of the Braille methods and shared their techniques of reading and writing in their books. The Goenkan felt delighted in donating eatables, clothes and toiletries to them and bringing smile on their faces. The visit proved to be a great learning experience for the Goenkansand also gave them the mantra of life ‘Be contented with what you are blessed with.'

 

Assembly, III A, July 20, 2017

The students of class III A conducted the morning assembly on July 20, 2017 on the topic ‘Uttar Pradesh’. The assembly commenced with the invocation of the almighty, followed by a beautiful presentation by the students. The theme of the assembly was highlighted through colourful performances, focusing on the cultural diversity of Uttar Pradesh. The children enacted the roles of the famous personalities of Uttar Pradesh. The assembly concluded with the introduction of the School Cabinet Body followed by a questionnaire on current affairs and prize distribution ceremony ahead of the National Anthem.

 

Amrita Kalasangam-Inter School Competition; July 22, 2017

Brimming with confidence, twenty seven students of the school participated in ‘Amrita Kalasangam’- an Inter-School competition held at Amrita Vidyalayam, Saket, New Delhi on July 22, 2017. The competition brought forth a deluge of talent and creativity in the events like ‘Sanskrit Hymns’, ‘Show and Tell Competition’, ‘Sanskrit Patriotic Song’ and ‘Mural Painting’. The tussle for the winning trophies was keenly contested by 34 premier schools across Delhi and eventually, the goenkan team walked away with Second Prize in ‘Sanskrit Hymns’ and ‘Show and Tell Competition’.

Inter-School Zonal Table Tennis Tournament: July 24- 26, 2017

‘Sport is a preserver of health.’ Keeping this view in mind, an Inter-School Zonal Table Tennis Tournament was organised by Delhi Directorate Sports and Activity Board Zone XII from July 24-26, 2017 at G.D. Goenka Public School, Sector- 22, Rohini, Delhi. More than 100 players from various schools across Delhi participated in both girls and boys category in the tournament. Girls’ matches were held in the morning session; boys’, in afternoon session. The table tennis champions of our school participated in all the six categories and flew the Goenkan banner high with their perfect shots.

Tech-Fest, Computer Science Week, July 24-31, 2017

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
The school celebrated Computer Science Week from July 24 to July 31, 2017 that focused on enhancing the technological knowledge of students and providing the platform to students to express their constructional ideas and their work to a larger audience.
The week kicked off with aMS Power Point Presentation organized for class VI on July 24, 2017 wherein the dexterous participants in a team of two students each selected a country of their choice and designed a travelogue in MS Power point using their technological skills and creativity.
Techno- Poetry was organized for class III on July 25, 2017 wherein the participants enthralled the audience with their most amazing poems on a wide range of topics like computer, mobiles, electronic gadgets and internet. The students of class IV showcased their imagination and creativity in Poster Designing organized on July 25, 2017 on the topic ‘Gadgets of Future’. They made wonderful posters with gadgets like pollution sucking machine, underwater blue tooth panel, flora translator, etc.
Creativity was its peak when the budding minds of class V participated in Best out of E- waste competition organized on July 28, 2017 wherein they created beautiful articles like Ganpati, Rakhi plates, Dice, etc. with old CD. Old keyboard mouse and wires were used to make scorpion, pet dogs, dolls, etc.
The week concluded with an online Tech Quiz (designed with KAHOOT) organized for class VII on July 31, 2017 wherein the techno savvy Goenkans competed on their knowledge of latest technology, famous personalities, inventors and fundamentals.

Assembly, Class VI C, July 25, 2017

The students of class VI C conducted the morning assembly on July 25, 2017 on the topic –‘Life without Mathematics’.  It commenced with the Morning Prayer, followed by the invocation of God with a prayer song by the school choir. The thought for the day was followed by a short skit on the theme ‘Usage of Mathematics in daily life’, quiz buzz and felicitation of Infinity Week winners of class VI and VII. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem inducing the spirit of national integrity.

 

SIMMIC – Inter School Competition – July 28, 2017

A team of 7 students of the school participated in an array of competitions as a part of SIMMIC- the Inter School Competition organized by Queen Mary’s School, Rohini on July 28, 2017.The Goenkans won the hearts of many with their admirable performancein the ENACT A RHYME, TOON TALK, HANSI KE FAVARAY and ENSEMBLE THE CULTURE.

 

Unnat 2017- Interschool Competition, July 28-29, 2017

Gritty Goenkans participatedwith fortitude and determination in myriad activities at Unnat 2017, the Inter School Competition organized by Indraprastha World School, Paschim Vihar on July 28 and 29, 2017. On the first day of the event, LieshaNijhawan and Shlok Gupta of class IV displayed their tenacity in e-POSTER making competition while Vasuh Gupta, KabirPahwa, NureshYadav, KhushiDabas, SamairaSyal and Aarohi Gupta of class V showcased their acting skills in MANTHAN in which they had to enact a story based on a Hindi proverb. Their stupendous performance and many more memorable moments were beautifully captured by Rashneet Kaur of class XI who participated in ‘FLICK-A-SHOT’ and presented her photography skills in totally new colours. Day two witnessed talented Goenkans participating in another round of competitions viz. AD MAD, MIME ACT, TAPPING TURLE, ANTIQUE ELEGANCE and GEOMETRY IN ART. The two exciting days concluded with confidence, pleasure and a great learning experience as the take away for the young learners.
